Thalassina is the fossilized molt stage of a crustacean that is a cross between a crayfish and a hermit crab.  It is found along the north coast of Australia in mangrove swamps.  It is relatively recent at 2,000 to 3,000 years old.  This specimen is from near Darwin. 

4 1/4" L X 2 1/4" W X 1 1/2" H.
