Carving by the Mahoni tribe of central Java.  One point of open fretwork that is subdivided.  Very ornate.  Reflecting it’s age and use, a split has started in wood at base.  3 1/4" H X 1 1/8" W X 1 3/4" D.

Keris or Kris are personal daggers and were carried by all males over a certain age.  They are handed down from fathers to sons.  While the handles might be sold in a time of financial hardship, the metal blade itself is never sold.
